Window Film Chicago Installation Process

At Window Film Chicago, we take pride in our work. We’ve spent years developing and adjusting our methods and are always looking for new ways we can perfect our process. Over the course of time, we’ve developed a signature installation process that we use for all window film installs. This time tested process that all work conducted on your home, business, or building is completed in an accurate, timely manner and will last for an extended period of time.

Step One: Consultation

Your experience with us begins with an onsite consultation with your assigned project manager. Your project manager will meet you onsite to learn more about your goals and what you hope to accomplish from your project. During this time, we may show you different samples of film that vary in shade or style. We may also take site measurements and conduct a brief inspection to identify any possible eventualities. Once all of the fine details have been discussed, we can schedule an appointment for the installation at a time that’s convenient for you.

Step Two: Preparation

In order to expedite the installation process, we prepare all materials and plans beforehand in house. We precut all of the window film using a high powered plotter so that it’s all ready to go. Not only does this help us waste less product, but it also keeps our services more eco friendly in doing so. Then, our team will develop an individualized plan that details the exact steps for the installation to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Step Three: Installation

During the day of your appointment, we will arrive at your place of home or business to install the film. We begin the installation by first cleaning all the glass to remove any dirt or debris that would hinder the film from adhering properly. Then, the cleaned glass is primed using C-Bond* to allow the film to curate and become clearer more quickly. The film is applied to the primed glass and all excess primer is removed using a squeegee. Using a soft cloth, the glass and the film is carefully cleaned and then inspected. The film is allowed to dry and set and the installation is complete.

*Please note, window film that is not primed with C-Bond may take longer to dry and achieve full clarity.

Why We Use C-Bond

C-Bond is a window film primer that is used to strengthen glass and window film products. There are two types of C-Bond systems, C-Bond I and C-Bond II. We use C-Bond I for most window film installs but are also happy to offer C-Bond II for clients who desire a more advanced option. We use C-Bond because it expedites the installation process and also allows the film to adhere better and perform better over a longer period of time.
